Airtel TweetSMSIndia’s largest telecom service provider Bharti Airtel has launched tweetSMS, a third-party application that allows you to receive Twitter SMS updates directly to your mobile phone.

To signup for TweetSMS

New User

  • SMS Signup to 53000 @ Re 1 per SMS
  • Follow instructions to go ahead and complete the registration process and start Tweeting

Existing User – Wanting to link their device to the Twitter A/c

  • SMS Start to 53000 @ Re 1 per SMS
  • Follow instructions to complete linking your Airtel phone to your Twitter A/c

This application allows you to stay in touch with a large community of Tweeters without needing an internet connection on your mobile. For the price of a single SMS charged at Re 1, the Tweet that you post goes out to the entire community of listed Tweeters on the Airtel network.

    This is a nice initiative from Twitter though launching at Diwali time in India does not make much sense as most of telecoms giant will be increasing the SMS rate for 3 days in Diwali.
