BSNL WiMax in Kerala

State-owned Indian telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched its mobile WiMax (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) service in Kerala. It is a fourth-generation technology that enables high-speed wireless Internet access anywhere, anytime for devices like Desktop, Laptop on wireless. This WiMax technology has been provided by AVIAT, formerly Harris Stratex.
The WiMAX services, which can provide speeds of up to 37mbps wirelessly, include high speed broadband connectivity, national roaming, web-based commerce, telemedicine, distance learning and low cost connectivity to bank ATMs and railway reservation centers.
The BSNL is initially offering two 512 kbps unlimited tariff plans – Home Plan with a fixed monthly charge of Rs.999/- while the Business plan is Rs.1,999/-.
