The Dubai Metro is a fully automated driverless metro network in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai. It will be the longest fully automated driverless train system in the world.

The first section of the Dubai Metro (Red Line), covering 10 stations, was officially launched at 9:09:09 PM on September 9, 2009, by Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The stations to open on September 9: Rashidiya, Airport Terminal 3, Deira City Center, Al Rigga, Union, Khaleed bin Al Waleed, Al Jafiliya, DIFC, Mall of the Emirates and Nakheel Harbour and Tower. The Green Line of Dubai Metro, originally scheduled to open in March 2010, will open three months later than originally planned.
The Dubai Metro is currently operated by a joint organisation of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Serco Group.
Making of Dubai Metro
The Metro service will run from Saturday to Thursday from 06.00 am up to 11.00 pm, while on Friday the metro service will start from 02.00 pm to 12.00 am (midnight). A standard ticket will cost between AED2.50 ($0.68) and AED6.50 ($1.80). [via dubaimetro.com]
