South Africa will host IPL Twenty20 cricket tournament

South Africa will host second season of DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 cricket tournament. The 59 matches will be played from April 18 to May 24 in 6 venues. The six venues confirmed by South Africa are Johannesburg, Durban, Centurion, Port Elizabeth, East London and Cape Town.
The IPL2 begins at Cape Town on 18 April 2009 in South Africa. The IPL matches will begin at 4 PM and 8 PM (IST) as scheduled earlier.
“It will be a great opportunity for Cricket South Africa to host the IPL 2009. We will provide complete security to the players and match officials”, said Cricket South Africa (CSA) Chief Executive Officer Gerald Majola
Twenty20 cricket league was moved out of India due to security reasons (2009 Indian general elections). The Indian Government earned Rs 91 crore as tax revenue from the 1st season of the IPL.
